The Miami Dolphins roster is now in better in focus. Of course, there will be things that change during the season as result of the nature of football.

Updates on the Fins

There were no major roster surprises that shocked the fans of Dolphins. Miami did release Myles Gaskin. Gaskin had led the team in rushing in two different seasons. In his time in Miami, Gaskin proved to be a reliable back that did his job when called upon.

It was not a major surprise that Gaskin was let go, the emergence of Salvon Ahmed, Devon Achane, and Chris Brooks factored into the decision. The Minnesota Vikings have since claimed Gaskin off the waiver wire.

Cedrick Wilson

Many thought that WR Cedrick Wilson had been on the trading block due to his salary. But, Wilson and the team reworked Wilson’s contract. This lowered his cap number from $7 million to $5 million. Wilson stated,

“I want to be where I’m wanted. When I did the offseason last year, Miami was one of the teams that wanted me most. It came to a decision of where I wanted to be and where I wanted my family to be. As long as they want me, I’m happy to be here.”

Other Dolphins Notes

Tyler Kroft was re-signed to the active roster after being waived in the initial cutdowns. It seems the Dolphins advised Kroft that they wanted to bring him back to the active roster. But, Miami had to make other moves to free up roster spots. Those moves included putting Robert Jones (OL), Jalen Ramsey (DB), and Jeff Wilson (RB) on injured reserve.

Kroft on the agreement about bringing him back, “It was pretty much a gentleman’s agreement.” Since Kroft is a veteran other teams could not claim him. He would have to agreed to sign with another team. Rookies can be claimed off waivers.

Miami had a similar agreement with Parry Nickerson (DB). Nickerson was re-signed after being released.
