Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle

One of the biggest-offseason acquisitions in the NFL was the Miami Dolphins trading for Tyreek Hill. The Dolphins undoubtedly gave up a lot to get one of the best wide receivers from the past six years but so far it has proven to be worth it. While this was exciting for the Dolphins who haven’t made the playoffs since the 2016 season, it wasn’t a move that was immediately expected to turn this offense into one of the best in the NFL, however. It could be proving right now to have turned this Dolphins’ offense into one of the few elite ones in the league this year already.

In the first game of the 2022 season, Tyreek Hill showed his immediate value catching eight passes for 94 yards in a 20-7 win over division rival New England Patriots. What the rest of the league forgot was how good the now second-year receiver on this team Jaylen Waddle was as well. Waddle had 69 yards himself with a touchdown.

Hill and Waddle Make a Great Combo

This was just the very tip of the iceberg though. In week two Hill and Waddle combined for one of the most impressive and dynamic performances from two wide receiver teammates ever in the same game. They each hauled in 11 catches and two touchdowns. Waddle had 171 yards and Hill had 190. This really put the entire league on watch as they helped Miami complete a massive comeback win. Both of these receivers are two of the fastest in the league. They can burn you deep or catch a short pass and turn it into a big play at any time. The immediate connection with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been very apparent so far.

Not many people had this Dolphins team winning in week three against the preseason-Super-Bowl favorites who were 2-0 at the time, the Buffalo Bills. Miami proved that they have even more to offer than just two dynamic receivers in this game. They grinded out a 21-19 win where the defense had a standout showing. Waddle continued his strong play in this game as well as he had 102 yards receiving.

Speed on Display!

In week four it was Tyreek Hill’s turn to have a big game. He came through with 160 yards and 10 catches. His performance was not the story for Miami though as they lost the game to the defending AFC-champion Cincinnati Bengals and, more importantly, the team lost their quarterback Tua Tagovailoa due to a scary head injury.

The Dolphins and the rest of the NFL is hoping that Tua can bounce back from this head injury, and he will likely take his time to return after back-to-back weeks of a concussion scare and a serious concussion. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle have been dynamic with Tua and still looked good with backup Teddy Bridgewater. The team is off to a hot start and will hope to continue that for the rest of the season on their way to the playoffs.
