Random Dolphins Thoughts
Random Dolphins thoughts as Miami prepares to take on the Minnesota Vikings at Hard Rock Stadium this Sunday (10/16/2022).
Tua Tagovailoa has taken part in some non-contact football drills over the past two practices. He was able to throw and do other exercises with the team. Yet, Tua will miss his second straight start as a result of the concussion he sustained against the Cincinnati Bengals. Coach Mike McDaniel stated that it is possible for Tua to clear the concussion protocol by Sunday. Yet, the coach added that he is not comfortable with Tua playing since the QB has not been on a football field for the past two weeks.
Teddy Bridgewater is also still in the concussion protocol process even though the quarterback never shows signs of sustaining a concussion. Yet, a “spotter” during the game against New York Jets determined that Bridgewater did display signs of a concussion. But, there is plenty of video footage that suggests Bridgewater never showed concussion symptoms. The veteran QB can begin non-contact football drills today, but the coach said the plan is for Bridgewater to back up rookie Skylar Thompson against the Vikings.
More Random Dolphins Thoughts
The Dolphins will need the rookie quarterback to play above expectations if they want a good chance of beating the Vikings. The Vikings come currently lead the NFC North with a 4-1 record. Minnesota comes into this matchup with some impressive offensive weapons. So, Miami’s defense which has been lackluster so far this season needs to step in this contest.
The good news on that front is that it appears Xavien Howard who missed the Jets game due to a groin injury, will return to action. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported that Howard advised that he is feeling a lot better. Do you have a random Dolphins thought that you would like to

To Ping Pong or Not to Ping Pong
McDaniel mentioned that Tyreek Hill along with other team captains decided to take the ping tables out of the team’s locker room at the training facility in Miami Gardens, Florida. The coach thought that was a sign of good leadership. The captains thought the ping-pong tables were distracting players from focusing on their jobs. Overall, players seem to understand that decision.
