Dolphins Head to Germany
The Miami Dolphins will be heading to Germany later today. Miami will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in a matchup of two 6 and 2 teams. The fans in Germany are being treated with a game of two quality teams. Mike McDaniel held his Monday press conference today before the team boards the plane enroute overseas.
Respect Needs to be Earned
As much as I’m a diehard Miami Dolphins fan, I feel that respect needs to be earned not given. I know fellow Dolfans want the national media to shower our beloved team with praise, but in my view that praise will come upon winning games down the line.
This week’s game against KC would be a great spot to start beating teams with a winning record. I see what you see, the Dolphins are a good football team this season. But, to be considered very good or even great by national media, Miami needs to beat very good or great teams.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying the 2023 version of the Dolphins. They play an entertaining brand of football with a lot of high talent on the roster. However, if Miami can’t start beating the good teams, will it matter come playoff time?
In all fairness, Miami has only had two chances to beat a team with a winning record so the sample size is small. Miami can easily earn the respect in the upcoming weeks.
Dolphins News and Notes
LT Terron Armstead will travel with the team to Germany. McDaniel stated that is possible that the 21 day window for Armstead returning to the roster could open this week.
Still no update on the status of C Connor Williams for the Chiefs game. Williams was active for the Patriots, but he did not play at all.
TE Durham Smythe was wearing a walking boot on Monday. McDaniel described Smythe as tough and said that the TE will battle through this, but no word on Smythe’s playing status was given.
Different Travel Plans
Miami is heading over this evening to Germany. However, the Chiefs will begin preparations while still in Kansas City. No way to tell which method is best. McDaniel said he wanted to get there early to allow them to get into a regular routine this week when practices start on Wednesday. He also mentioned it will give the players a chance to spend some time together on the players’ off day on Tuesday.
