McDaniel declined to say who won the starting left guard (LG) slot. He cited competitive advantages as the reason of not naming the starter to the public at this time. Liam Eichenberg currently shows on the first team on the depth chart, but Isaiah Wynn started the final two exhibition games. Eichenberg has missed some time to an injury this training camp.

Terron Armstead has not been practicing as result of a leg injury he sustained in the joint team practices with the Houston Texans. McDaniel did not say want to rule Armstead out or in. So as for now, Armstead’s status for Week 1 remains unknown.

Tua Talks

Tagovailoa says he has prepared for things that has not gone right in the past. He spoke about out the Los Angeles Chargers had a great game plan against the Dolphins last year. Tua went on to say that Reynaldo Hill spoke with him and offensive unit have spoken on what to expect from the Chargers defense Hill is currently the passing game coordinator/secondary coach for Miami. But, he was on the staff of the Chargers last season.

When asked if he had personal goals for this season, Tagovailoa said that he did. He did not share those personal goals. But, said most players have personal goals along with the team goal of winning. He said if one touchdown is enough to win then that is all that matters.

Tagovailoa said why not when asked there is talk about making the Super Bowl, he said that all teams do it. It is the reason that you play. He does not compare himself to Justin Herbert. Tagovailoa said he admire Herbert’s skill, but said he is a completely different style of quarterback than himself.
