Miami Dolphins news, today

Dolphins News for 10/27/2023

Mike McDaniel held his weekly Friday press conference this afternoon. Some Miami Dolphins news on the injury front was discussed during the press conference.

News and Notes on the Fins

WR Tyreek Hill is expected to play according to McDaniel. That is welcomed news since Hill did not practice on Wednesday with a hip injury listed as the reason. Hill returned to practice yesterday and was expected to practice today as well.

McDaniel said that DB Jevon Holland is still in concussion protocol, but stated that Holland is progressing nicely. It has now being reported that Holland practice without the red no contact jersey today. Still no word on Holland’s status for Sunday.

Offensive Line

Lester Cotton will get the start at left guard (LG) in place of the injured Isaiah Wynn. McDaniel also said if the game flow allows it, he would like to see Robert Jones get some action at the LG this week.

C Connor Williams seems close to returning to action. McDaniel advised that Williams is positioned to play against the New England Patriots, but still did not announce his official status. McDaniel said his gut tells him that Williams will be active this week, but does not know if Williams would start.

Defensive Backs

It is possible that Jalen Ramsey and Xavien Howard will both take the field this week. When the Dolphins acquired Ramsey this past offseason, the vision was to have one of the best cornerback tandems in the NFL. But, Ramsey was injured on the second day of training camp. Howard also missed time due to an ongoing groin injury.

McDaniel was going to wait until today’s practice to get with Ramsey and Hill to determine their availability for this week’s game. Ramsey made the news rounds yesterday when it was reported that Ramsey was expected to play by Adam Schefter. Ramsey responded with a post that that announcement was news to him. But, Ramsey did follow it with a post saying he hoped that Schefter’s announcement become true.

Running Backs

The coach advised that he was happy with how Raheem Mostert looked during Thursday’s practice. He appears ready to go. McDaniel said he hopes to get Jeff Wilson some touches this weekend.

FB Alec Ingold has not gotten as many snaps recently as a result of a lingering foot injury. McDaniel stated that he did not want to overwork Ingold.
