Miami Dolphins Awards 2022

The regular season is over for the Miami Dolphins so they have announced their awards list for the 2022 season.

2022 Awards Announced for the Miami Dolphins

MVP/Dan Marino Award

No surprise here! Tyreek Hill has been named the team’s most valuable player. In his first season with the Miami Dolphins, he put up video game stats. As far as suspense in awards, this one had very little. Hill was acquired in the off-season to bring help to Miami’s offense. Help he did!

The numbers do not lie in Hill’s case! He had 1710 receiving yards as he grabbed 119 receptions. Hill put up seven 100-yard receiving yards games this season. Opposing teams had to account for Hill on every snap if they did not want to get burned! It also seems like that Hill brought some winning swag to the team

Hill was not shy about boosting up Tua Tagovailoa in the public domain of social media. Tyreek’s faith in Tua seemed to help the young quarterback to gain confidence. Of course, everyone will point to Hill’s play on the field. You would be crazy not to in fact. Yet, I really feel that Hill’s confidence helped the Dolphins since Hill is accustomed to playing in the playoffs. I know the Miami Dolphins gave up serious draft capital as well as money for Hill but it was worth it. Hill had four games where he had at least 10 receptions for at least 150 yards! Talk about video game numbers. That last stat ties the NFL record for a single season. The Miami Dolphins have awards every year, this one ranks as one of those no-brainers!

Nat Moore Community Service Award

I thought this Miami Dolphins award might go to Jaelan Phillips since he was the team’s Walter Payton Man of the Year selection. Emmanuel Ogbah was the winner though. I see why after reading what he does for the South Florida community. The Nat Moore Community Service Award is given to a player that makes a big impact on the South Florida community so this was another easy selection.

Hurricane Ian left behind destruction. Ogbah quickly stepped up to help those in need after the hurricane affected the lives of those living in SW Florida. He also is a regular at Girls and Boys Clubs in the area. Ogbah has a foundation in his name, Emmanuel Ogbah Rise Above Foundation, to help provide scholarships for those in need.

Miami Dolphins Awards~Don Shula Leadership

Tua Tagovailoa makes the awards list for the Miami Dolphins. Don Shula’s name on this award says it all. Shula’s leadership amongst all the Fins greats is at the top. The Shula award goes to the player who best shows leadership on and off the field. Before the 2022 season kicked off, Tua was voted a team captain by his peers.

The way the Dolphins play when Tua is on the field is at a different level. No knock on Teddy Bridgewater or Skylar Thompson but when Tua plays you can see the difference in how his teammates respond. Tua might be young but the way his teammates support him is a clear sign of his leadership.

Tagovailoa also happen to put up great performances on the field for the Miami Dolphins in 2022. His performance against the Baltimore Ravens showed that he could lead the team back from being down by a large deficit. Tua’s quarterback rating of 10.5 led the NFL. He is the youngest quarterback to lead the NFL quarterback rating system since Dan Marino in 1984.

Ed Block Courage Award

This Miami Dolphins award is selected by the team’s training staff. It goes to a player that shows great courage, strength, professionalism, and dedication. Alec Ingold is who the training staff picked this year for the ED Block Courage Award. Like Hill, Ingold is in his first year with Miami. His dedication to overcoming an injury suffered in 2021 was a reason cited for earning this honor. Ingold is also very active in the community in helping foster care children.

Those are the players that won awards for the 2022 version of the Miami Dolphins.
