Miami Dolphins News 10/02/2023

No reason to sugarcoat it, the Miami Dolphins got beat bad yesterday by the Buffalo Bills. HC Mike McDaniel (See below) spoke with the media today in his day after game press conference, so there is some Miami Dolphins news. The New York Giants will be coming to Hard Rock Stadium next week.

News and Notes on the Dolphins

McDaniel advised that OT Terron Armstead will be out weeks not days. Armstead suffered a knee injury in yesterday’s game. OT Kendall Lamm will start at left tackle until Armstead is able to return at some point this season.

C Connor Williams, LB Jaelan Phillips, and S DeShon Elliot all missed the Bills’ game a result of an injury. McDaniel did not say that any of them would return for this week’s game but did not rule it out. He said he believes all three should be able to practice in some capacity this week.

IR Players

Players that were placed on an injury status list after initially being on the active roster are eligible to return this week. Those players include:

OL Robert Jones
DB Jalen Ramsey
DB Nik Needham
RB Jeff Wilson

Jones and Wilson appear to be the most ready to return to action. Wilson is part of a crowded running back room with the emergence of De’von Achane. Chris Brooks is also on the active roster and is a key special teams contributor.

Jones was playing well before his injury. He might backup LG Isaiah Wynn or being given a chance to start.

Ramsey seems like he will return later in the season. Any moves made to put these players on the active roster will result in a corresponding move to free up a roster spot. A team can designate a player to return which will open a 21 day window for his return. If not activated within those 21 days, he will be placed on IR for the remainder of the season.
