Miami Dolphins News 10/16/2023
The Miami Dolphins defeated the Carolina Panthers yesterday by the score of 41 to 21. Today, Mike McDaniel held his usual Monday press conference. There was some news on the injury front for Miami discussed by the coach. You will be able to watch the whole press conference below.
Dolphins News/Notes
McDaniel advised that CB Xavien Howard will be a day to day evaluation has he deals with a with a groin injury. The coach said that RB Chris Brooks is more of a week to week issue. Brooks had to be helped off the field before being carted off to the locker room. McDaniel stated that Brooks needs some swelling to go down before they can make any decisions.
LB Jaelan Phillips was given a snap count limit as he returned from missing games due to an oblique injury.
Jeff Wilson
Many thought once RB De’von Achane was placed on the injured reserve (IR) last week, that RB Jeff Wilson would fill the spot on the active roster. It made a lot of sense as it just happened that the 21 day window was recently opened on Wilson. But, he was not activated for the Panthers game.
McDaniel said that Wilson was ready to go but other moves were made due to decisions based on the Panthers matchup. Now, it seems like with the injury to Brooks, that Wilson will be discussed as returning to the active roster once again.
Tyreek Wilson
WR Tyreek Wilson is having an amazing season on the field. He already has 814 receiving yards plus 6 touchdowns. McDaniel was asked if it was concerning that Hill is needs IVs to combat cramping during games. The coach said that Hill tries to proactive but advised that the WR is a “high octane” athlete that goes all out so things come up.
Buying in or Still Questions?
I know that as a long-time fan of the Miami Dolphins, it takes convincing. But, are you impressed with the 5 and 1 record? It is the first time that the Fins have made it to 5 and 1 since 2002. Yes, 2002 did not end with a playoff victory, but it is still good to see Miami off to a good start.
I know some will point out that the Dolphins have not beaten any solid teams since the week 1 victory over the Chargers. But, Miami has beaten the teams in convincing fashion in games that they have been favored. Of course, we all know about the one loss.
We will see as the season unfolds, but I’m cautionary optimistic after 6 games. two of the next three games will give us a better understanding of where the 2023 Dolphins stack up.
