Miami Dolphins Notes 02/03/2023

The Miami Dolphins have fired offensive line coach Matt Applebaum according to reports. Applebaum only served this season in that position. Here are some Miami Dolphins notes.

02/03/2023 Miami Dolphins Notes

The Applebaum news broke yesterday and was first reported by Armando Salguero of Outkick. Prior to being hired last year by the Dolphins, Applebaum was the OL coach at Boston College. Miami will now be in the market for their 10th OL coach in the past nine years.

It was somewhat of a surprising move at this point in the offseason. The Dolphins OL was not great this season but did show marked improvement over 2021’s unit. Hopefully, the Dolphins have some good candidates to move the OL into being a top-10 unit in the NFL. I will update the site on this front once names start to emerge for the OL coach position.

Vic Fangio

Though it had been previously reported that Vic Fangio was going to be the next defensive coordinator of Miami, it is now one step closer to being official. Adam Schefter reported yesterday that Fangio will indeed take the DC role for the Dolphins once the Super Bowl is over. Fangio is currently a defensive consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles.

At this time, it is unknown if Fangio has any coaches that he might want to be part of his defensive staff.

Fins Stuff

The Dolphins have a lot of work to do in terms of off-season dealing before the new league starts in March. Miami needs to decide on numerous things in regard to the salary cap. They will have to rework some larger contracts to free up some cap face for the 2023 season. The Dolphins will also have to go over their own pending free agents to see who they will like to bring back next season.

We will be having a full list of pending Miami Dolphins free agents coming out soon. A lot of draft coverage is coming down the pike as well.
