2023 NFL Draft: Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas
Caballero believes that Bijan Robinson will be the first running back selected in the 2023 NFL Draft. He brings a lot to the table in his skill set. He does everything well. Caballero does rate some other backs in this draft class above Robinson but he knows that if only one running back goes in the first round it will be Bijan.
Robison got better every season while at Texas. Good burst of speed when he gets in the open to go along with good agility. “Bijan can stop and go on a dime with quick decisive moves that leave defenders grasping at air,” said Caballero. Great contact balance as well as he lowers his pad level while taking on a hit. At times, he can get a bit high in his pad leverage which can hurt his contact balance. Often surprises a defender with his power as he breaks tackles and then turns on the motor to continue downfield.
Robinson does everything above average on a football field. He is a standout when handed the ball but has also improved as a receiver during his Texas career. “Bijan has soft hands when catching the rock and knows what to do when he snares it,” said Caballero. His route tree has developed over the past two seasons but still needs a little more work. Bijan Robinson can score from anywhere on the field at any given time. Though he was not asked to do it in college, Robinson has the look of a player that would do well at returning kicks or punts. An exciting player that should be a big hit at the next level. Has the ability to be a three-down back. His pass protection skills are solid as he can use the chip block against oncoming pass rushers.
