Dolphins Beat Lions 31-27
The Miami Dolphins beat the Detroit Lions by a score of 31-27. It was an offensive game in which Miami got the last roar!
The Dolphins Beat the Lions in the Lions’ Den
Miami beat the Lions even if it seemed they were beating themselves at times. The Lions stampeded down the field on their opening drive. On the first offensive play of the game, Elandon Roberts was flagged for a 15-yard penalty for taunting after making a tackle on the sideline. The Lions did not need any extra help, but Miami gave it to them. They ended the drive with an uncontested touchdown.
The Dolphins again beat themselves on their opening drive. Miami was moving the ball well on their first drive. Yet, it ended when Braylon Sanders fumbled after making his first career catch. Detriot took advantage of the turnover. They again went right down the field to make a 14 to 0 lead over Miami.
On the next Miami drive, Tua Tagovailoa would find Jaylen Waddle for the Dolphins first touchdown. The defense was unable to keep the momentum as they once again let the Lions easily go the field for yet another 7 points. Miami stiffened up a bit on the defense from this point. However, Miami was in a hole at 21 to 7.
The Tua to Waddle connection would strike again as Tua hit Waddle in stride to a TD. That TD made it 21-14. The teams would then exchange field goals making the score 24 to 17 in favor of Detroit. But, the Lions were able to hit another FG as time expired in the first half. On a drive, the Dolphins beat themselves with penalties. At the half, the Dolphins were down 27-17.
Dolphins Take Charge in 2nd Half
The Dolphins beat the Lions today, in large part because of the 2nd half. Miami shut out Detroit in the second half. But, the Dolphins were able to get two touchdowns. Tyreek Hill did not get a touchdown today. However, Hill was a major reason that Miami was able to beat Detroit in this much-needed win.
The numbers that Hill put up once again resembled that of video game stats. The Lions simply could not cover Tyreek today. The superstar WR had 12 receptions for 188 yards. For good measure, he carried the ball one time for 7 yards resulting in a first down on a 2 & 6 play.
Alec Ingold rushed for a TD in which he directly took the snap from center. On the previous play, it appeared that Tua had thrown a TD pass to Trent Sherfield. However, the referees ruled Sherfield down on the field. Replays seemed to show that Sherfield scored, but Miami chose not to challenge.
Tua would hit Gesicki with a TD pass for Miami’s final score. The final score was the first time Miami took the lead for the day. The Dolphins held on to beat the Lions 31 to 27.
Not much to complain about in this hard-earned victory for Miami. However, they will have to work on lowering the number of penalties. The Dolphins beat Lions today, but penalties are bound to cost the team down the road if they are cleaned up.
