Dolphins Season Far From Over
If you have hopped on social media over the past few hours, you might think the Miami Dolphins season is over. Most seem to realize that is not the case. Yet, the vocal minority that thinks that season has no hope left has come out strong. Miami lost their third game in a row yesterday (10/16/2022). So, there is a fair level of concern around among the fans about the team’s recent downward trend. Yet, most feel the team can get back on track.
Dolphins Season Marches On
I’m not going to make excuses for the Dolphins. Their record is 3 and 3, so they are a .500 team at this point in the season. Yet, moving forward there is some optimism of things improving. One of those reasons for hope is the return of Miami’s quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa. The Dolphins have simply played better this season when Tagovailoa has been at the helm.
The return of Terron Armstead and Austin Jackson should boost the offensive line. Yes, that Austin Jackson! I know he has taken a lot of heat for not living up to expectations since being drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but he had shown signs of improvement before getting injured. Plus, he was a starter, so the team viewed him better than the other options. So, his return counts as a positive.
Yesterday’s Game
Yesterday against the Minnesota Vikings, the defense played much better with the return of their top cornerback, Xavien Howard. Yes, the Dolphins lost. It is also true that the defense needs to create more turnovers. But, with that said the defense put in a solid effort against a Vikings team with a lot of weapons. The defense was not the reason for losing. The Dolphins season still has signs of life, but a turnaround is needed quickly. For more details on yesterday’s game, read this Dolphins Lose to Vikings.
Complementary Football
Head Coach Mike McDaniel stated in his postgame press conference that the Dolphins must play better complementary moving forward this season. All aspects of the team must come together. The turnover ratio was also mentioned as critical by McDaniel. The Dolphins have been negative in the turnover battle during their three straight losses this season.
This week the 2022 Dolphins season continues in a prime-time game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday Night Football. Get the popcorn out if you’re one that loves drama on social media! This game not only marks the likely return of Tagovailoa, but also the South Florida return of Brian Flores. Much was said and written about the relationship or lack of relationship between Flores and Tagovailoa during their tenure together. I’m sure much of that will be brought up this week! Make sure to hit us up on the Dolphins Thirsty Twitter page!
