Dolphins Sign 3 Draft Picks

The Miami Dolphins sign 3 draft picks from their 2023 NFL Draft class. Only their top Cam Smith remains unsigned.

The Dolphins announced the signings of De’Von Achane, Elijah Higgins, and Ryan Hayes today (06/02/2023).

Achane the speedy running back picked in the 3rd round out of Texas A&M was quickly signed by the Dolphins after the team got post-June 1st cap relief. Achane is expected to get plenty of playing time as a rookie. He brings elite speed to South Florida to join an already fast team. Achane should be a duel threat as he is a good receiver out of the backfield. This former track star was a 1st team All-SEC running back in 2022.

The Dolphins selected Higgins in the 6th round out of Stanford. He will be making a position switch in the NFL. He played receiver while at Stanford but the team drafted him as a tight end. Higgins was a good blocker as a WR so hopefully, the switch to TE is not a drastic change to his game. He has the skills to improve the TE room of the Dolphins.

Miami drafted Hayes in the 7th round of this year’s draft. Hayes played his college ball for the University of Michigan. He was a starter at left tackle for the Wolverines. The high level of competition he faced in college should help him win a spot on the 2023 Dolphins roster.
