Miami Lose 5th Straight Game
The Miami Dolphins lose control of their grip on a playoff spot. Miami now needs help along with a win of their own next week.
Miami Lose Playoff Spot
The Dolphins lose to the New England Patriots by a score of 23 to 21. Yes, Miami had injuries but so did New England. The simple fact is that the Dolphins simply did not do enough to win when they had everything to play for today. Miami entered the game with their backup quarterback as a result of Tua Tagovailoa being out with a concussion. So, Teddy Bridgewater got the call to start the crucial game.
The Dolphins lose another quarterback. Bridgewater was “okay” not great but not awful until he threw a pick-six. On that pick 6, Bridgewater became injured. Skylar Thompson played the rest of the way. He was unable to lead Miami to a comeback victory but did throw a touchdown pass with a little over a minute remaining in the game. However, Miami was not able to recover the onside kick.
The Season is not Over but it Feels like it
Miami can still make the playoffs if they win coupled with a Patriots loss. Yet, it still hurts that the Dolphins lose control of their own fate. Dolfans must now root for the Buffalo Bills to beat the Patriots in the NFL’s final week. Miami must beat the New York Jets to make the Bills and Patriots game matter to Miami’s playoff push.
At 8 and 3, the Dolphins were looking like a playoff team without a doubt. But, all they have done is lose games. Even if Miami wins and gets the needed help to make the playoffs, it feels like it will be another year until the Dolphins get a playoff win.
Injuries and inconsistency are the major issues. They have shown flashes of getting back to their earlier season form, but can’t keep it going. They can’t overcome mistakes and then fall short in the game.
A season of streaks. Miami won three games in a row then lost three games. They snapped back to win five games in a row but have now lost five in a row. That comes to 8 and 8 with 1 game to play.
