Week 1 2023 NFL Games

2023 NFL Week 1 Preview

2023 NFL football is here! The Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles is one of the premiere games of the Sunday slate! But, there are many other good ones!

NFL Week 1 Preview: Dolphins at Chargers

We have to start out with the game everyone is most anticipating on the week. The Dolphins vs Chargers. This game features two of the best young quarterbacks in the league and two explosive offenses. It is expected to be a close and high-scoring game with a slight edge given to the Chargers, although it could easily go either way.

The Chargers expect to have an improved defense and have kept the offense intact that was one of the best in the league last season. With Tua at quarterback the Dolphins have an elite offense. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle can take over and win any game at any point.

49ers at Steelers

This game is unexpectedly supposed to be really close. The 49ers are just slight favorites over the Steelers despite being one of the top teams in the NFL last year and keeping their core team together this season against a team in Pittsburgh that failed to make the playoffs.

This is also one of the lowest-projected point total games on the weekend. Regardless, it should be entertaining to see how young QBs Kenny Pickett and Brock Purdy have progressed in their second year.

Texans at Ravens

This is supposed to be the game with the widest margin of victory. Baltimore is expected to handle the Texans with ease and spoil second-overall pick CJ Stroud’s NFL debut. On paper the Texans probably have the worst roster on offense and defense.

With all that said, it could be an extremely entertaining game to watch Lamar Jackson run wild all over the field.

Buccaneers at Vikings

Baker Mayfield’s possibly last chance as an NFL starter takes place on Sunday as the Bucs play the Vikings in Minnesota. The Vikings had one of the best offenses and records in the NFL last season and could run this score up.

A new shiny weapon in Minnesota is the former USC wide receiver and rookie Jordan Addison. With Addison being added to an offense with Justin Jefferson, this team could be really fun this season.

Jaguars at Colts

The Jaguars are one of the teams that a lot of people expect to make a massive leap this year. They made the playoffs last year and upset the Chargers. This season they are expected to win their division and have an explosive offense with Calvin Ridley added to the offense.

The Colts feature the No. 4 overall pick from the 2023 NFL Draft, Anthony Richardson. He has been compared to Cam Newton and could take over the NFL the same way the former NFL MVP did. This will be the first chance to see Richardson in action. With all that said, the Jaguars are expected to win this one with ease.

2023 Rivals: Bengals at Browns

Two divisional rivals who both expect to win the AFC North this year will play in week one. The Browns were bad last year with Deshaun Watson, worse than they were with Jacoby Brissett while Watson was serving his suspension. The Browns have a chance to upset the Bengals in this game if Watson can have one of his best games as a Brown.

For the Bengals, it is rumored that Joe Burrow will play despite his training camp injury. If he is limited in what he can do, it may favor the Browns in this one.

Cardinals at Commanders

It is still unknown who will be starting at quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals in this game, although it is rumored to be the newly acquired Joshua Dobbs. The quarterback battle here is Dobbs vs rookie fifth-round-pick Clayton Tune. Regardless of who is playing the Cardinals will be the underdogs after they apparently are committed to tanking by trading away some key starters for picks.

The Commanders are another team to watch this season and could be exciting with Sam Howell looking good throwing to Jahan Dotson, Logan Thomas, and Terry McLaurin, but it is uncertain if McLaurin will play in this game.

Titans at Saints

Derrick Henry is on a mission to show that running backs deserve to get paid and should not be undervalued. It will be interesting to see if he shows up in a big way in this game. This will also be the first chance to see DeAndre Hopkins on the Titans in what could be an improved Tennessee offense.

The Saints are the favorite in the NFC South and this game but they have a new quarterback Derek Carr who is a question mark. This team has talent across the board but will be without Alvin Kamara in this one and for the following two weeks.

Packers at Bears

Longtime rivals face off in week one as the Packers go into Chicago to play the Bears. Jordan Love finally has his chance to be the week one starter and Justin Fields is expected to have a breakout year for Chicago. This game has the closest spread of any week one game and could definitely go either way.

Both of these teams are largely unknown. They each could be towards the bottom of the league or could easily win the division. Whoever wins this game will be off to a great start.

2023 Sunday Football Game 1: Cowboys at Giants

Sunday Night Football will feature two fierce division rivals. Even in the best season the Giants have had since 2016 last year they still lost to the Cowboys twice in 2022. Both the games were also exceptionally low scoring.

The Giants added Darren Waller and hope that Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley can improve on what they built last year to take down the Cowboys at home. Dallas moved on from Ezekiel Elliott and will give the keys to Tony Pollard at running back. Dallas is a small favorite but this one could go either way.
