2023 NFL Draft: Riley Moss, CB, Iowa
Simply put Caballero loves to watch Riley Moss play football. A tall lanky cornerback that plays a physical brand of football. He has very good speed for a CB of his height.
Moss can run laterally almost as fast as his straight-line speed as he can stop and go on a dime. Fluid and quick change of direction movements. Good burst of speed in a short area or long distance. Can get the motor revved up fast as he tracks down the ball or the person with the ball. Caballero said, “Riley caught my eyes a couple of seasons ago while looking at film of other prospects.”
This CB out of Iowa is a playmaker when he hits the field. He had 11 career interceptions, Moss returned 3 of them for touchdowns. His ball-tracking skills are excellent. But, he also excels in the tackling department. “Riley runs like a fast DB but hits with the power of linebacker,” said Caballero.
High football IQ to go along with good instincts on the gridiron. Gets the job with a special combination of skills. Seems to study film to discover the tendencies of his opponent. Moss always seems to be around the action on the field. His height and leaping ability make it a difficult task for a WR to beat him on 50/50 balls. Can bait quarterbacks into throwing passes that should not be thrown in his area. Plays physically at the line of scrimmage as he is able to jam receivers to get them off their timing.
