2023 NFL Draft: Cory Durden, DL, NC State

Grading scale: 1 Poor 10 Elite COD: Change of direction

Caballero describes Cory Durden as having great tenacity during games. Has the “dog factor” when it comes to not giving un plays. Always on the go and fighting until the whistle blows. Solid scores all on the SRS (Scout Rate Score) grading factors. Polishing up his pass rush skills is something he will have to work on at the pro level.

Quick footwork on the field with really good flexibility that helps Durden move quickly laterally. This prospect out of NC State is strong as an ox which is seen as he is able to maintain a solid contact balance. At times, smaller linemen can get Cory off balance. But, overall he scores well in this area.

Durden will benefit from an NFL conditioning program as he could use more muscle development in his legs. Keeps good technique by maintaining a low pad level to gain leverage when engaging with the opposing OL. On film, it looks like Durden plays with above-average speed. Plays well against the run as he is a solid tackler that wraps up the ball carrier.

Cory Durden was offered to play for several major college football programs. Cory had offers from NC State, FSU, UM, Florida, Oklahoma, and others. Originally chose FSU. He played at FSU between 2018-2020. He then transferred to NC State where he played in 2021 and 2022. Used the extra year of eligibility granted to players during the Covid pandemic.

Draft Projection: Late rounds or UDFA

Overall, Caballero says he has Durden rated higher than most 2023 NFL Draft sites. But, Caballero feels that Durden has a good upside with the potential to be a long-term contributor in the NFL.
