2023 NFL Draft: Bryce Young, QB, Alabama
Caballero says the fact that Bryce Young measured just a little over 5-10 does not stop this signal caller from being ranked #1 on his QB board. A smaller-sized QB prospect but his skills make him thrive on the field.
Savvy skills inside and outside of the pocket. Good timing on his throws can throw in rhythm to his targets. Young does a job of going through his progressions once the ball is snapped. Reads the defense well pre-snap and post-snap as he quickly analyzes the field. Uses his quick feet in combination with his eyes to keep defenders guessing on what his throw or run is going to be on the play.
Young has good decision-making for the most. At times, he can get greedy and make throws to dangerous spots that he should avoid. Those throws will be intercepted in the pros. Also, will have the occasional pass batted down at the line. Already has the knack of knowing to rid of the ball to live for another day. Good timing on when to run if nothing is open target-wise. Bryce is not afraid to take off and run when it is needed.
Bryce Young will need to improve on third-down throws. Caballero said it was Young’s lowest completion percentage of all downs. But, he was good at keeping the chains moving by using his feet as mentioned above. However, you slice it Young is one of the best quarterbacks in the 2023 NFL Draft.
“Bryce might not have the strongest arm in this draft class but he can make NFL throws,” said Caballero.
