2023 NFL Draft: Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia

Broderick Jones, 2023 NFL Draft

Grading scale: 1 Poor 10 Elite COD: Change of direction

Caballero likes what he sees when watching Broderick Jones play against SEC opponents. Plays fast with great athleticism for an offensive lineman. Solid footwork to go along with a good technique for the most part but the technique has room for improvement. Excellent change of direction skills. Turns and flips hips like that of an athletic linebacker.

Jones has an outstanding contact balance upon his first engagement with a defender. He can maintain his contact balance in tight spots or on the move in open spaces. Broderick uses his eyes, hands, arms, and legs all in unison as he battles in the trenches. This OT prospect has strong hands but could get stronger in “catch hands” while engaging. Jones has above-average power but it is raw strength that should be developed in an NFL training program.

Broderick Jones plays with the dog factor until the play is over. He will not give up even if the defender wins the first movement. Pass protection is average, and Jones at times can be beaten by a speed rush. Better at run blocking at this point in his career but needs some refinement in this area as well. Jones almost plays too fast at times and needs to slow down and find his target. Has a good football IQ, which will help him improve upon his game once he gets NFL coaching.

The Prospect Sheet

Broderick Jones played at Lithonia High School in Lithonia, Georgia. He was recruited by several schools like Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, and others. It appeared early on that Jones really wanted to stay in his home state to attend Georgia in order to play with the Bulldogs (Source: rivals.com) Brandon has been invited to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine.
