2023 NFL Draft: Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama
Rating scale: 1 Poor 10 Elite
Caballero considers Jahmyr Gibbs to be one of the most versatile running backs in the 2023 NFL Draft. Gibbs will help a team in the running game as well as the passing game. Depending on the team that selects this RB prospect, he might make an impact on special teams as well.
Gibbs passes the eye test of a running back that should do very well at the next level. “Jahmyr is electric on a football field, he has great speed and it shows on film,” said Caballero. Knows how to create space with his quick bursts either after a handoff or a reception. Gibbs can stop and go on a dime with some excellent change of direction movements.
Gibbs does not pass protect as well as you would like but with his receiving skills, he should not be called on to block that often. He is much more valuable with the ball in his hands or at the very least a threat as a target. Might not be as thick as some power backs but he still brings the boom. Gibbs’ contact balance is amazing as he does not often go down on the first hit.
An overall skillset that will play well in the NFL. His route tree is still developing but it is already surprisingly strong for a college running back. Knows how to get open as well as what to do when the ball gets to his hands. Good vision and should be a solid fit in any team’s blocking scheme with his versatility.
