2023 NFL Draft: Devon Achane, RB, Texas A&M

Devon Achane, running back, Texas A&M, 2023 NFL Draft

Grading scale: 1 Poor 10 Elite

Caballero like many others rates Devon Achane very highly. This 2023 NFL Draft prospect has the skills to excel at the NFL level. His speed and agility are among the best of the RB prospects this year. Not only is he fast but Achane has great field vision which helps him explode through any cracks.

Is a “smallish” back but he is still very powerful with his great burst of speed. Versatile running back that does a little bit of everything to help his team on gamedays. Achane of course is great at rushing the ball but also is excellent at catching it. His route running for a back is amazing. Plus, has high-end kick return skills. As mentioned, Devon is lightning fast but he is also quick. Able to stop and go on a dime.

Some smallish backs struggle in pass protection duties but Achane does it well for the most part but could still use some improvement. Devon has a great contact balance that makes him tough to bring down when he has the ball. The size will not be an issue with this Texas A&M running back when he hits the NFL. Devin Achane will have many NFL running back coaches pounding the table for his service during the 2023 draft process.

The Prospect Sheet

Devon Achane was highly recruited out of high school. Prior to choosing Texas A&M, this elite back had offers from USC, Illinois, TCU, Georgia, and others. Had a breakout season in 2021 and continued to improve in 2022. (Source: 247sports.com)

2023 NFL Draft Projection: 2nd round not shocked if he sneaks into the bottom of 1st round if other big names come off the board at RB. 3rd round is the floor but not likely.

Overall, Caballero feels that Devon Achane has the talent to be an elite All-Pro player in the NFL.
